Greenwich Women's Aid
In April 2011 Greenwich Women's Aid merged with Housing for Women and is now known as Housing for Women (GWA).
Many people think of Women's Aid as just offering temporary accommodation to women and children when they have to leave their homes because of Domestic Violence. However, we at Housing for Women (GWA) now offer many other additional services which you can read about on our website.
We define domestic violence as the emotional, physical, sexual, psychological or financial abuse of a person by their partner, family member or someone with whom there is, or has been, a relationship. We acknowledge that domestic violence essentially involves the misuse of power and the exercise of control by one person, usually a man, over another, usually a woman.
Our service is available to any woman who is living in fear, living with or has left a domestic violence situation or is a survivor of rape or sexual assault.
Our service is confidential.
For referrals to any of the above services, any questions you may have and for referral to refuge accommodation and services throughout the United Kingdom, please ring our Referral & Information Line 020 8317 8273.
